OPOS installation

Each hardware manufacturer provides their own set of OPOS drivers, then how they are installed and configured vary from one to another.

The process in nevertheless the same for main parts.

  • Create an instance of each device, based on the product sub-type, and assign name to it. Historically the following names are used:

    • Printer: OPOSPRN1

    • Scanner: OPOSSCN1

    • Drawer: OPOSDRW1

    • Line display: OPOSDSP1

  • Set the communication parameter how the POS machine intends to communicate with each device, using one of the means below:

    • Serial port

    • USB

    • TCP/IP

  • Install the CCO (Common Control Objects) which is the base layer that sits between the OPOS driver and the POS application.

  • Test to ensure proper operation of each device.
