Gift cards are instruments that belong to gift card series.

Gift card series

Upon entering the Gift card page, the option is presented to Add a gift card serie.

The following information must be provided to create a gift card serie.

As an example here, we can imaging that we want to create a gift card serie that covers numbers from 72511000000 to 72511099999. Meaning they are all 11 characters long, they all start with 725110 and can produce 100.000 individual gift cards (00000 - 99999).

  1. This is the description of the serie. This text shows on the receipt when a gift card is used on the POS.

  2. The prefix number is the number all instruments start with and is used to identify the "serie part" of gift card once entered on the POS.

  3. The length of the part that actually identifies each card (00000-99999), in our case 5

  4. The item ID that is used to sell a gift card from this serie. On the POS the item is decorated with an info code that instructs the operator to enter the ID of the gift card that is being sold.

  5. The validation period in years.

  6. The optional validation in months.

  7. Whether gift cards in this serie are:

    1. Pre-issued - meaning that gift cards have been pre-printed with gift cards numbers on them, that only need to be activated.

    2. Live printed - means that the POS requests a gift card number from the Loyalty server which is then printed on the POS.

  8. This defines whether the POS enters the amount manually when the gift card is sold, or if the amount is fixed.

  9. This is not used for gift cards.

  10. The merchant group that is allowed to sell gift cards from this serie.

  11. The merchant group that is allowed to accept gift cards from this serie.

Gift card instruments

When a gift card serie has been created, it is time to add some gift cards. Note that gift cards that are added at this stage are all pre-issued, meaning they exist but can not be used until they are activated on the POS, or issued.

Gift cards are added by entering the edit mode of the serie. Edit mode appears automatically when the serie has been created or can be entered manually as the picture shows below:

Look for the section Pre-issue multiple gift cards on the page.

From here some # number of gift cards can be entered and pre-issued by clicking the pre-issue button. Optionally a CSV file can be selected to create only a tailored list of numbers.

Once the gift cards are created (and page refreshed), the serie statistics will show the increased number of gift cards:
