Definition
2 for 1
A discount type where the customer only pays for 1 item but receives 2. The reward is set to “Least expensive item” and the discount is set to a percentage, 100%.
3 for 2
A discount type where the customer only pays for 2 items but receives 3. The reward is set to “Least expensive item” and the discount is set to a percentage, 100%.
Active discount
A discount that is active, within a current time period. Filtering option.
Activate now button
A button that sets the time validation default to current date. The date can later be modified.
Add rule button
Pressing the add rule button brings forth a new item rule within the same reward group as the former one.
Autumn specials
Seasonal discount template. The default discount period presets are Aug 1 to Oct 1.

Discount templates with Item discount and Department discount
Christmas clearance
Seasonal discount template with preset discount period of Dec 26 to Jan 15.
Customer discounts
Discounts tied to specific customers.
Customer groups
The groups a customer can be part of. A list of customer groups defined in the Data Manager
Customer restricted
Discount that only applies to the customer groups/s, selected from a drop down list. Filtering option.
Customer rules
"a restriction rule that only allows discount for a specific group of customers"
Date picker
A form where the month and the date can be selected in order to pick a date.
Department
A selection of items categorized as belonging to a certain department in the Data Manager.
Department discount
A basic discount template that is set to individual item/department discount. Department number is entered manually into the discount or dragged from the item list.
Discount builder
A generic discount template including the name, type of discount, discount period, an item set with a reward group for creating the quantity and exclusion details, recurring time rules, customer rules, store rules etc.
Discount templates
The types of default discount templates available. Item discount, Department discount, 2 for 1, 3 for 2, Package deal, Mix & match, Spring sale, Autumn specials, Christmas clearance, Happy hour, Customer discount, Staff discount, Discount builder.
Discount tester
A tool to test the items/departments etc. which have been selected for the discount.
Exclusion
That which is not included in a discount offer and is specified on the item set. Items, departments and selectors are often grouped together to form an exclusion. An exclusion can be 1 or many items, Departments or selectors.
Exclusion field
A part of the item set which opens up when working with exclusions.
Expired discount
A discount that no longer does have valid time period. Filtering option.
Filter
Look-up tool where discounts can be filtered according to the following: Validity, State, Restrictions, Customers, Owner. Search for text, item, store.
Happy hour
A discount template called “Happy hour” referring to a well-known time period usually known for discounted beverages. In the template, the daily and weekly time restrictions which trigger the discount, are set to be active between 5 and 7 PM, Monday through Thursday.
Infocodes
Centara allows attaching of defined infocodes to sales and items. The discount offer module can use these infocodes to trigger discounts.
Individual item discount
An item set with the default setting of 1 item. More can be added.
Item
Single item associated with a numeric identity.
Item discount
A type of a discount offer, where a certain discount is given to one or more items. The discount can be a percentage off, a new price or amount discount.
Item list
A look up list positioned to the right on the screen, displaying Items, department and selectors. A filtering tool is at the bottom of the list.
Item set
A major tool in the discount template where all the discount items are inserted and the quantity is set. There can be more than one price rule to an Item set. Here the Exclusions are also created.
Layer
All discounts are created in layer 1 by default. Each discount item can only receive one discount within each layer, thus excluding other discounts in that layer.
Log in field
An authenticating field where staff can log in with a username and password.
Mix & Match
A discount template with an item combination setting where there are 2 price rules and quantity needs to be entered. 3 items are needed to trigger the discount.
Modified discount
A discount which has unsaved changes made to it. Filtering option.
Not activated discount
A discount which has not yet been activated by selecting a date and activating. Filtering option.
Owner
The person that was the last person to make changes to a discount. Filtering option.
Package deals
A discount template with an item combination setting where there are 3 price rules and quantity needs to be entered. 3 items are needed to trigger the discount.
Pending discount
A discount which has an activation date set in the future and will only become active when that date arrives. Filtering option.
Preview
A tool to view the items/departments etc. which have been selected for a discount in an item set.
Recurring time rules
A tool to create discount periods which are activated at certain days of the week and/or hours of the day.
Revert changes button
Press this button when changes need to be reverted.
Reward
The kind of discount the customer receives. The choice is between all items or the least expensive one, percentage discount, a fixed amount, a different price level or a new price.
Save Changes button
A button located at the top of the page, which saves changes to the discount being worked on.
Screen layout
A diagram explain the functions of various areas on the screen.
Seasonal offers
Discounts that are applied at certain times of the year or around special holidays.
Selector
A group of items with an individual identity OR a preselect group of items or a collection which is given an identity and can be used in a discount along with other items/departments/selectors, often crossing departments.
Show Validation Errors
A button (next to the save button) that lights up when validation errors are in the discount. When the button is pressed a field opens up with information on which validation errors are to be found in the discount that is being designed.
Spring sales
Seasonal discount template. The default discount period presets are March 15 to May 15
Staff discounts
Discounts that only apply to staff.
State
A grouping option in the filter, for modified and un- modified discounts.
Store rules
Select from a drop down list which store or groups of stores the discount applies to.
Store restricted
Restricted to application in a certain store or a group of stores. Filtering option.
Time picker
A graphic tool enabling selection of time periods on a 24 hr. clock.
Time restricted
A discount that bears time limitations. Filtering option.
Unmodified discount
A discount that no changes have been made to after last saving. Filtering option.
Unsaved discount
A discount that has yet to be saved. Filtering option.
Validation error
Errors while creating the discount and cause a yellow sign to pop up. Common validation errors are empty quantity fields or a time frame is not set.
Validation period
Validation period – The time period set for the discount.
Validity Active
The status of the discount is Active.
Validity Pending
The validity of the discount is that the discount time period has not yet started.
Validity Unsaved
The status of the discount is unsaved. The discount might be ready but has not been saved.
Validity Expired
The discount has expired. Time period has run out.
Validity Not Activated
The status of the discount is not yet activated. The activate now button has not been pressed, or the time period has yet to be set.
